October 14, 2023 – January 28, 2024

Eri Honda is an artist and illustrator born and raised in Nagasaki, Japan. She graduated from the Fukuoka Design School in Japan and the National Academy Museum and School in New York. Since childhood, Honda has created elaborate dreamscapes and whimsical characters as a meditation on joy and peace. Honda’s art process includes cutting, tearing, and assembling sheets of cardboard materials using scissors and cutters. Using repurposed materials such as cardboard, old clothing, and milk cartons, Honda uses anything and everything to create her multi-media artwork.

Artists-in-Residence Program

At Children’s Discovery Museum of San Jose, we believe that the arts are a place where we are able to discover ourselves, explore the world around us, imagine brilliant futures, and connect with our communities. We believe that the arts are not a luxury, and instead, that art and creative expression are a key part of every child’s development and education. We strive to teach children that the arts and culture are not only something they can interact with, but something they can also help to create.
