For the Museum Field

Children guide the way in our research.

We test our hypotheses with children, putting them in real situations and with prototype experiences, to learn if they interact with our exhibits in the ways we intended, and whether they seem to have the kinds of experiences that we thought they were going to have.

Professional Development Initiatives

Cultural Competence Learning Institute (CCLI)

Participants and institutions worked together to discover new ways of addressing diversity and cultural competency within their organizations. CCLI was a partnership between Children’s Discovery Museum of San Jose, Association of Children’s Museums, the Association of Science-Technology Centers, and Garibay Group.

Cambio

Museums reflected on how to become more relevant and responsive to our Latinx communities. Cambio aimed to provide a foundation for this journey by helping museums cultivate cross-departmental ownership, gather relevant data, and examine their relationship to science, technology, engineering, and math. Cambio was a partnership between The Exploratorium, Children’s Discovery Museum of San Jose, Association of Children’s Museums, the Association of Science-Technology Centers, and Garibay Group.
